Milwaukee Day 1

I think the most succesful part of our trip was the fact I learned how to spell Milwaukee! (It's hard!)

Last weekend Angel and I traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin (or Wiscahhhnson depending on where you're from).
My adventure started before I left Naperville actually. I walked to the train station and planned on taking the metra to the city where Angel works because it's on the way to Milwaukee. I show up at the train station and they announce my train is canceled, but the next train (coming 15 minutes later) is going to stop at the first trains stops. Okay, no big deal just 15 minutes. The train arrives and I get on. Once it starts to move the ticket taker comes around and I say "I'm going to Hinsdale". He says, "This train is not stopping in Hinsdale, you better get off in Lisle and catch the next one." What???? I hurry off the train. It's not until after I get that I realized the dumb ticket taker probably just didn't know that this train was following the previous trains schedule.  So I should have just stayed on! Oh well, too late for that. I check the next train schedule in Lisle and the next train isn't coming for an hour and half! There was no way I was waiting for that, so I called Angel at work and while he finished work I waited in a coffee shop.

After that train debacle I was pleasantly surprised that it only took an hour and forty five minutes to arrive in Milwaukee.

After we checked in to our hotel we went to one of Angel's favorite restaurants in Milwaukee, Saz's. It was good, but I don't think it is one of my FAVORITE restaurants....

I can't get this picture to flip around...sorry!

Amanda Moore Squared

Today while subbing I was taking attendance.

I saw a name and paused...."Amanda Moore"

I quickly exclaimed, "We have the same first and last name!"

I think I confused the poor girl.

Meeting Lois.

My favorite book of all time is The Giver, by Lois Lowry. I read it at least once a year. A few weeks ago she was doing a book signing at a local bookshop in Naperville. I walked over and I was hoping that I could get her to sign my copy of The Giver. She was signing a new book, something about a mouse. It's strange to me that someone who wrote such a brilliant novel as The Giver, hasn't written anything else then can even compare since! She was a really good speaker actually, and very personable. I didn't wait in line to get my book signed (it would have been hours) but it was interesting to see her in person and hear her speak.

I'm Backkk

It's been awhile. Sorry about that. It's been a busy month....

I was in Florida for ten days over spring break. The weather was great! Especially because Chicago has decided that the end of April is still winter; yeah it snowed on Saturday.

I think I went to the Beach everyday I was in Florida

In case you're wondering, I didn't quite finish all the books I brought with me to Florida. Oh well. I LOVED  The Glass Castle and The Da Vinci Code. I would definitely recommend them both!

Last weekend Allison and Sarah came to visit! We stayed downtown one night.

Yesterday Angel and I ran a 10k.  It's semi-scary to think that in less then a month I'll be doing the half, which is 2 10k's. I was actually happy with my time. I was right at 10 minute miles, which was surprising because when i train I'm usually at 11 minute miles.

This weekend Angel and I are going to Milwaukee Thursday night-Saturday. We were planning to do lots of outdoors things, but the weather is going to be rainy and in the 40's, so museums here we come!
